So is there any "low cost" solution to get a VM to connect via VPN through a host PPTP? When I say low cost, I mean both in money as well as in resources. As far as I can find out, Windows Server core does not have PPTP capabilities, as such having that VM simply dial in does not seem to be an option. I know that XP has a routing and remote access service capability, but I don't think this will necessarily work. I tried using ICS, which, I have never used, to no success. The host OS on the remote side is Windows XP Pro (SP3). So I am trying to fhink of a solution whereby his VM could be on my local network. In other words the Server Core would not see my network, only his local network. Howerver, because he uses PPTP VPN he only connects the remote client to my local site.

I would like to take advantage of his location by setting up a remote VMWare installation and install an instance of Server Core for testing. My brother uses PPTP to VPN to the lab, where he can access resources. I have a test lab set up locally for Windows 2008 Server. I have been through the forums a few times the past few days and found no help, so if you can, please help. However, he also tells us constently that he will lie to use and that he will make us have to figure stuff out on our own, or find it on the we, which brings me here.Īnyway, the drivers that I am having trouble with are the VMware network applications interface driver (64-bit) and the VMware bridge drive (64-bit). I have asked my professor, and he said that he has been unable to get VMware Server working on a 64-bit Win 7 system as well. I need to stay with 1.0.10 because it is the environment that I am using in a course at school. I am assuming that this is where my problem is stemming from. Near the end of the install, windows prompts me to download drivers or to skip, I told it to download them (why would it ask if it didn't need them?) but it then says that they are unsigned and that windows will not allow them.

At first I was having some problems with the installer yelling at me about IIS not being configured, so I figured out how to get that working, uninstalled and reinstalled the Server Console, and still no luck. I have recently downloaded VMware Server Consol 1.0.10 on my Window 7 64-bit machine and I am not getting the option to connect to a local host when I open up the server console.
